JORGE PRADO IS BACK ON TOP
Reigning MXGP World Champion, Jorge Prado, was incredibly impressive in his recent Monster Energy AMA Supercross debut, winning a heat race and comfortably sitting in the top-10 before returning home to Europe in preperation for his MXGP assault.
At the opening round of the 2024 MXGP World Championship, his supercross pre-season proved to have little effect on his performance. The 23 year-old Spaniard maintained his composure ice-cool in both motos at the Villa La Angostura track, delivering lap after lap of inch-perfect performances to secure a dominant win in the first moto and a second-place finish in the second moto for Red Bull GASGAS.
The first moto, in particular, showcased a singular gate-to-flag masterclass for Prado. Despite a challenging qualifying that placed him in a P4 starting position, by the end of lap one, Prado had already pulled out a 4.2-second lead, which he extended to over 33 seconds at the finish. It was business as usual for the champion, celebrating his 78th career win and the perfect start to the season.
MXGP – #1 – Jorge Prado: “I am super happy with how everything is going right now. Honestly, this weekend has gone so well – I feel good about the bike, and we made some key improvements from last year. I feel like a better rider now than ever before – and I’m super happy to leave Argentina with the red plate and the win. Starting the season on the right foot is fantastic. I want to say a huge thank you to all my team at Red Bull GASGAS Factory Racing, as well as everyone beyond me – my trainer, my family – everyone who is putting work into this! Let’s keep rolling and achieve more results like this!
