PRADO’S SUPERCROSS DEBUT
The reigning World Motocross Champion, Jorge Prado, has been vocal about his desire to hit the tracks in the USA, especially under the vibrant lights of the AMA Supercross Championship. In the initial three rounds of 2024, Prado is dipping his toes in the American waters. His debut at Anaheim unfolded seamlessly, setting a promising tone for his stateside adventures.
He clocked in with the ninth-fastest qualifying time, and as part of the Red Bull GASGAS Factory Racing crew, he showed he meant business by snagging a solid eighth in his Heat Race, punching his ticket straight to the Main Event.
When the Main Event kicked off, Prado blasted out of the gates with his usual lightning start, mixing it up with the big names in Supercross. Prado soaked up the experience under the Angel Stadium lights and finished the night in 13th place.
After the race, Prado shared, “First-ever Supercross race is done, and what an experience! It’s so different from what I’m used to, and it was just a day of building. I felt good in practice every time, and then the night show, the track was so different. I’m used to riding the test tracks with a harder base and different whoops, so every time I tried to go through these ones, they were so different, which made it difficult and unpredictable. I didn’t find a good flow in the Main Event, but got a good start. I think next week we will move in the right direction, especially with having one race under my belt, and P13 I think is not a bad start.”
Prado will have another crack this weekend in San Francisco, you can watch all the action unfold by clicking here.
