Oyster Bay … A Pearler Club!

7 years ago | Words: Andy Wigan

If you’re a trail boss or one of the 50% of participants at Transmoto Enduro Events who only race Transmoto events, but want to step it up a notch and dip your toes into club-level racing, there’s no better way to do it than with the crew from the Sydney-based Oyster Bay Motorcycle Club (OBMCC).

Why OBMCC? Well, there’s a reason Transmoto has teamed up with OBMCC to stage our NSW-based Transmoto Enduro Events for several years: because they’re an active, switched-on, family-oriented club that caters to riders of all abilities and ages, and understands that having fun on a motorcycle lies at the heart of all good dirt bike events. That, and the fact they’ve got a proven track-record in hosting state and national events (including the memorable 2010 A4DE at Portland), and performing at them (yes, the OBMCC posse took out first place in the Club Team category at this year’s 40th anniversary of the A4DE at Cessnock).

We know that many of you have had a crack at OBMCC’s notorious annual Sleets Grasstrack in recent years – which is run on some of the most mouth-watering natural terrain this side of Unadilla – but you should be aware that Sleets is just one of a range of quality events that OBMCC stages on their annual calendar. And points earned at each round go towards an end-of-season club champion in Clubman, Pro/Expert, Ladies, Veterans and Masters classes. Plus Juniors (under 16) are also catered for, from 12 years and up.

The club’s next event will be an ‘introduction to enduro’ meet, open to non club members who want to experience what true enduro events are all about, followed immediately by Sunday’s annual running of the Oyster Bay 6-Hour Pony Express (entries to both events are open for the next 48 hours, so click the links to sign yourself up now).

Check out the remainder of the club’s 2018 Race Calendar (below), which includes Sprint-format rounds, plus championship weekends that include a Saturday Cross-Country race, followed by Sunday grasstrack motocross, and a bonus event (yep, three events for the price of two!).

OBMCC – 2018 CALENDAR (Remainder Of The Year)

  • June 30 – Have a Go at Enduro (Sunny Corner, NSW)
  • July 1 – Oyster Bay 6-Hour Pony Express (Sunny Corner, NSW)
