NEW PRODUCT: FOX V3 RS HELMET

2 years ago | Words: Andy Wigan

For 2022, Fox’s previous V3 helmet (the V3 MVRS) has received a bunch of significant design upgrades – to its shell construction, visor, visor fastening system, EPS liner, strap D-rings, and safety features (including the move from ‘Fluid Inside’ pods to ‘MIPS’ technology to mitigate rotational forces, and the first-time integration of an Eject helmet removal system) – and the result is the all-new and lighter Fox V3 RS (“Race Spec”). It’s the most technologically advanced moto helmet Fox has ever built; a helmet that takes a very systematic approach to protecting riders from both linear and rotational impacts.

Here’s a snapshot of key design elements found on this all-new Fox V3 RS helmet…

MCT SHELL CONSTRUCTION

MCT (Multi Composite Technology) Shell construction that uses a combination of Unidirectional and Multidirectional woven Pre-preg Carbon and Aramid fibres to provide a light yet rigid external shell.

VARIZORB™ EPS

Like the crumple zones in your car, the dual-density Varizorb™ EPS liner is designed to provide improved protection by progressively dampening impact forces across a wider surface area.

MAGNETIC VISOR RELEASE SYSTEM 2.0

The second-generation Magnetic Visor Release System (MVRS™) is designed to stay firmly in place through aggressive dirt bike riding and roost conditions, but detach from the helmet upon impact to help mitigate external rotational forces that can affect your head during a crash.

STANDOUT FEATURES

  • MCT (Multi Composite Technology) Shell construction that blends Carbon and FRP resins to provide a light yet rigid external shell.
  • Four shell and EPS sizes for best-in-class fit.
  • Equipped with the Multi-Directional Impact Protection System (MIPS), which adds a low-friction layer between the helmet and the head.
  • An evolution to the MVRS system positions the visor with a centre post magnet and two side shear-off screws. The visor is designed to flex under impact prior to breaking away to provide additional rotational impact management.
  • Dual-density Varizorb EPS liner is designed to provide protection by spreading the forces of impact across a wider surface area.
  • EPP chin bar maintains lower weight while helping to manage energy during impact.
  • EPS is compatible with Eject Helmet Removal System.
  • Injected Mesh vent screens provide superior ventilation and airflow, while maintaining protection from dirt and debris.
  • Removable, washable X-Static comfort liner with emergency release cheek pads, which are antimicrobial and manage odour while wicking moisture away from the head.
  • Carbon fibre D-rings.
  • Meets DOT and/or ECE 22.05 standards.

RRP: $699.99 (Carbon Black); $729.99 (the other six colourways)

Sizing: Available in four shell and EPS liner sizes (S, M, L, XL)

Stayed tuned over the coming weeks for our review on this all-new Fox V3 RS helmet, which we’ve been testing for a couple of months now.
