MXN – Reigning Champ Jay Marmont to miss Hervey Bay
Current Australian MX and SX champion, Monster Energy Kawasaki’s Jay Marmont will not compete at the 6th round of the 2012 Monster Energy MX Nationals at Hervey Bay, QLD this weekend.
Unable to race due to a medical clearance not being granted, Marmont’s aspirations to win his 5th consecutive Australian Motocross championship have been dealt a severe blow. Post-surgery infection has delayed Jay Marmont’s anticipated return following the mid-season break from racing.
Jay Marmont say’s, “I’m obviously disappointed. It’s no secret that I’ve been riding injured and fighting through pain all year so I guess this is nature’s way of telling me to let it go for this year’s MX Nationals. We’ve reassessed our goals though and we’re now very eager to get out there and win as many motos as possible in this championship.”
“I’m looking forward to Horsham where I’ll be fit and ready and able to come out and give it 100%.”
Dylan Peterson will represent Monster Energy Kawasaki in the MX1 class at Hervey Bay while Kade Mosig, the sole team rider competing at round 6, will be out to improve on his current 5th place standing in the MX2 class.
Jay Marmont will return for round 7 at Horsham, Victoria and his team mate Billy Mackenzie is working hard to be ready in time for round 8 at Appin, NSW.
