MX Nationals – Round 5 Conondale Results

Motul Pirelli Suzuki’s Cody Cooper claimed his first Overall round victory of the 2013 Monster Energy MX Nationals in the MX1 Class, as the series marked its halfway point at Conondale, June 2. Cooper won the GoPro Super Pole, before going on to claim sixth in the opening moto and first in the second moto to take home the win ahead of teammate Matt Moss and CDR Yamaha’s Billy Mackenzie. Tied with Mackenzie on points was Motorex KTM Racing’s Todd Waters, although he was pushed back to fourth as his 1-4 result wasn’t enough to match Mackenzie’s 3-3. Waters maintains the Overall lead heading into the mid-season break, 25 points ahead of Moss and 43 points ahead of Mackenzie.

In the MX2 Class, Serco Yamaha’s Luke Styke went 2-1 to claim his fourth Overall round victory of the 2013 season. Going 1-2 was Carlton Dry Honda Racing’s Josh Cachia for second, while finishing in third was two-stroke KTM-mounted Kale Makeham. Styke holds a 50-point lead over his teammate Luke Clout, who finished in seventh at Conondale, heading into the mid-season break. Cachia sits in third Overall, and will look to advance on the Serco Yamaha riders when racing resumes at Appin, July 14.
