Luke Styke, Keiron Hall and Glenn Kearney claim victory at ECMX Nowra
The battle continued for top honours at Round 2 of the East Coast MX Series at Nowra over the weekend. Around 300 riders turned up to claim victory in 16 separate classes, but there can only be one winner in the end.
After a fair bit of rain early in the week and overcast conditions on the Saturday, the Juniors had to contend with some wet and muddy conditions. SSRacing/MXR&D rider Aaron Tanti (13-u16 150cc 2st, 13-u16 250cc 4st), and MXR&D/SUS rider Rhys Budd (10-u13 65cc, 9-u12 85cc) were the standout performances after winning their respective classes. Other class winners included Brock Ninness (7-u9 50cc), Jackson Deamer (7-u10 65cc), and Dylan Heaton (12-u16 85cc).
After muddy racing at Round 1 of the East Coast MX Series and the NSW State Titles at Lakes, the Seniors were finally blessed with clear skies and sunny conditions. Although the track was still damp and rutted up quickly, the bobcat drivers from Lindsay Civil and the Nowra DMCC worked tirelessly to keep the track groomed.
Current Pro Lites points leader in the Australian MX Nationals, Serco Yamaha rider Luke Styke and three-time Australian enduro champion, Husqvarna rider Glenn Kearney, turned up to battle with the locals. Surprise package Keiron Hall took the win in the Pro Lites with 1-2-1 finishes in three gruelling 20 minute + 1 lap motos, with Luke Styke forced to accept second. But Styke prevailed in the Pro Open class, winning all three motos unchallenged. Husqvarna’s Glenn Kearney cleaned up the 30-39 Vets class over former professional rider Paul Grant. Other class winners include Matt Dumesny (C-Grade Lites), Cooper Martin (C-Grade Open), Jarrad Davis (u19 Lites), Tayla Jones (Womans), and Dean Burt (40+ Vets).
The Mydrade Honeys put on a show again for the competitors with the 15 second board, as well as supplying the riders with Mydrade energy drink and conducting Mydrade TV interviews with race winners. The trade alley was bustling with MXR&D displaying their technical expertise with free suspension checks for the riders, and a string of other trade stands including TeenCee Grafix, KTM, Glen Henry Yamaha and Sponsorpoint.
The full race results will be posted on http://www.eastcoastmx.com.au as soon as they are available. Competitors will now turn their attention to Round 3 of the ECMX Series in Canberra on July 14-15.
