Ken Block racing in Oz in September

Following months of speculation, Monster Energy Australia confirmed World Rally sensation, Ken Block, will be bringing his Gymkhana World Tour to Melbourne’s Calder Park for a one-off Australian show on Saturday, September 3.

The action sports icon, who will also contest the Australian round of the World Rally Championship, will bring to life the phenomenal action of his world-renowned Gymkhana video clips.

With his specially modified Ford Fiesta to be shipped in for this event, Block said he was excited to be visiting Australia for the first time.

“I’m stoked to be coming down to Australia for one of the stops of my Gymkhana World Tour,” Block stated. “My visit is shaping up to be wild.

“We’re coming down and doing a ton of different things during my visit, and, I’m not just there for the World Tour. I’m also racing in WRC Australia the following week. I can’t wait; it’s going to be a very fun couple of weeks for me.

“One of the great things about the Gymkhana World Tour down in Australia is that it’s free to the public, so everyone can come. I hope everybody that wants to see it can make it out because it’s going be amazing.

“Watching the gymkhana car slide around live in-person is much better than seeing it in video, so I hope everyone that is interested in seeing this can make it out,” Block continued.

In confirming the Australian leg of Ken Block’s Gymkhana World Tour, Monster Energy Australasian Manager Adrian Hunter said that Block would be joined by some of Australia’s leading motorsport athletes.

“The rumour of Ken Block coming down under has been circulating for a while and Monster Energy Australia are very excited to officially announce that Ken Block’s Gymkhana World Tour will be coming to Melbourne,” Hunter confirmed.

“This project has been close to a year in the making and we delighted to not only have Ken coming to Australia, but to also be putting on a live event for the public. Part of Monster Energy’s mantra is to look after our athletes, and give back to our consumers, so what better way to do that, than by putting on an event like this.

“We will be pulling out all stops on this event which will also include Monster Energy athletes such as Jamie Whincup, Shane Van Gisbergen, Andrew Thompson, Matt Mingay, Shane Tucker and the Monster Energy Showtime FMX Freestyle team,” Hunter said.
