HIMALAYAN 450: THE FINAL 5500KM TEST!
What did Royal Enfield’s 24-strong design and development team do with the first three Himalayan 450 production unit to roll off the assembly line in late 2023? What else? They rode them 5500km “from plains to peak”; from RE’s state-of-the-art manufacturing facility in Chennai to Umling La, the world’s highest motorable pass in northern India’s Himalayas, and captured the experience on video.
It’s a cool 12-minute watch and offers a real insight into just how proud RE’s design team are of their achievement with this significantly evolved Himalayan model.
THE FINAL TEST…
THE GLOBAL PRESS LAUNCH…
Just a month after the “The Final Test” adventure ride, Royal Enfield staged a Global Press Launch for their Himalayan 450. So, what did the international motorcycle media think of the machine and sampling it in the habitat that was used to develop it? Fair to say they all sounded a tad tipsy on Himalayan 450 Kool-Aid and the RE crew’s hospitality, especially Australasian Adventure Bike Magazine’s Andrew Clubb, who seemed to take on somewhat of an ambassador role for the landmark all-new machine in this five-minute edit. See what you reckon…
We’re looking forward to throwing a leg over the Himalayan 450 in late March, when the bike’s Aussie press launch gets under way in Victoria’s High Country. And while Victoria’s mountains may not mirror the nose-bleed altitudes of the Indian Himalayas, the region has certainly established itself as a damn good testing ground for adventure touring motorcycles. Stay tuned to Transmoto’s channels for our take on the all-new Himalayan 450.
