Get some air time at Freeflight!

If you value dirt bike airtime above all else, and your dream was to own a dirt bike riding park, then what else would you call your new enterprise than Freeflight. Located in Gulgong, NSW, this is one for the motocross enthusiast out there. The 3km motocross track — which is perfectly groomed by owner Steve Jacobs — is a very impressive creation. If you can string together five laps in a row then you’re doing very well.

GoPro HD Hero cameras were used to make this video.

But that’s not to say your mates on WR450Fs and CRF250Xs won’t have a ball at Freeflight. There’s many more tracks on offer, here’s a brief summary:

The Grasstrack — Ironically, there’s not a skerrick of grass to be had anywhere. What you’ll find here is a less intimidating MX track that’s perfect for working your way up to tackling the big-dog main track.

The Enduro Loop — While not the longest loop in the world, you’ll find plenty of traditional, tight, technical enduro singletrack to keep the trailriders happy.

The Enduro Cross — another more trail-oriented loop that’s a bit wider and faster than the Enduro Loop.

The Pines — Everyone we’ve ever taken to Freeflight has had a ball in the Pines. What makes it so good? Dunno. It’s just a good, fun little trail loop.

Oh, and don’t forget the Sand Track, Stadium Enduro, Stadium Motocross and Supercross tracks. Is that enough for you?

When?

Freeflight is open every weekend and during the week by appointment

How Much?

Riding at Freeflight costs $30 per day per rider.

Accommodation

Camping at the park is by far the best option. There’s something immensely cool about swagging next to your bike. Freeflight welcomes campers for $10 per night ($15 if your not riding) and has flush toilets and gas-powered showers.

If you prefer a nicer soft bed, there is plenty of accommodation in Gulgong, just 25km away. We stayed at the Ten Dollar Town Motel and found it was just fine.

Eating and Drinking

If you’re after a post-ride beer and a feed, get yourself into the Post Office Hotel. They have a great selection of pub-style grub, and the quality is tip-top.

For breakfast and a morning brew, swing by McDonald’s Bakery on your way out to the track.
