FMX Insider No.48: Photo Dump #1
Transmoto’s weekly web-exclusive column, the FMX Insider, penned by Ben Heidrich.
In this week’s FMX Insider I’m diving into my bag of photos to pull out a few favourites taken over the last five months. Since moving to Wagga Wagga in NSW earlier this year, I’ve found myself fortunate to be surrounded by an amazing riding scene and some really cool dudes. I’ve chosen these three photos because I feel they paint a pretty good picture of the riding quality and awesome vibes that come out of God’s Country.
This shot was taken during the Fishfinger’d FMX Jam at the Jackson Strong Motorcycle Complex. Melbourne-based rider, Ryan Brown, was throwing down hammers all day with endless Flip combos and and scary looking let-go tricks. This Double-Can-Flip was a stand out for sure, getting so twisted around hanging off the bike while upside down. As un-naturally twisted as this trick looks, Ryan managed to make it look so effortless and stylish. This was a day full of superb riding and great vibes.
If you’ve have heard of Metal Mulisha rider Truman Carroll then you should know he is the King of Rock Solids. He usually chucks one of these bad boys on his second jump into a session. I managed to snap this one while wandering around behind his foam pit during an arvo ride at his home track. It really shows how elevated he is from the seat while letting go, literally flying through the air above his bike.
I took this photo late one Saturday night after a chilled day of riding at Jackson Strong’s home compound. The sun was beaming all day with beautiful blue skies, then as soon as night fell the solar system came out to play. Being out in the country the stars usually shine bright but with a little help from the camera’s long exposure settings you can really make them pop. And what better view then sitting in front of the 75ft take-off ramp!
