Exclusive: Cam Sinclair Interview
Nitro Circus Live star, Cam Sinclair, travelled to the Gold Coast to escape Melbourne’s weather for a couple of days of riding under the Queensland winter sun. Transmoto’s Johnny Bonnar tagged along to talk about his new deals for 2014 and see how he is healing up from his latest injury.
Hey Cam, you broke your tibia and fibia last year, how is that healing up now?
Yeah I broke it five months ago and it’s still very sore. It’s fine when I ride but walking is the problem. Hopefully when I get the rod out in August it will be fine again.
You just finished the Nitro Circus Capital City Tour here in Australia, but you weren’t really riding during the show, what was the reasoning behind that?
Yeah Mike Porra (Nitro Circus tour organiser) didn’t want to risk me hurting my leg as it wasn’t 100% healed and (for me to) just worry about the four-person Flip, as it’s a big part of the show. I ended up riding the whole show in Melbourne, which was great in my home town.
Talk us through the foursome Flip with three strangers on board…
Ha-ha, this was a trick me and a few mates decided to try after having a few Carlton Drys one night. The next day we built some foot pegs and tried it into my foam pit. It came around sweet, as the guy sitting behind me helped the rotation. Then I got asked if I’d be keen to do it in the show and here we are. So if anyone wants to have a go with me, come to a show and you might get picked out of the crowd…
You have a couple of new deals this year, one being switching to the Kawasaki KX450F. How are you finding that?
I’m loving it. It took me at least five to six rides to get used to it but now I’m feeling 100% on it and I can’t get enough of riding it. Thanks to Peter Stevens and Mick Sinclair for hooking me up.
And you are also no longer part of the Metal Mulisha…
Yeah, me and Metal Mulisha are done. Not sure what happened there but I’m stoked to be in Fox for MX gear and casual now. Fox sure do have the best looking riding gear out there.
Lastly, you recently turned 30, you’ve just built a new house and your daughter, Lotti, is almost two. What are your plans riding-wise and do you think you will be taking it a bit easier now?
Yeah, it’s been really good especially since I’ve been injured and spending a lot of time with my wife, Brooke, and daughter, Lotti. I’ve been really busy working around my new house with gardening and building my FMX compound which is so sick. I don’t plan on slowing down yet, now I’m loving my Kawasaki 450 I’m loving riding more than ever so we will see what happens next.
