ECMX: Round 3 Oakdale Results

10 years ago | Photos: MXPhoto

372 competitors showed up to contest the third round of the 2014 East Coast MX series, presented by Transmoto Dirt Bike Magazine, at Oakdale on May 10-11.

On Saturday, Luke Robertson, Max Miller, Rhys Budd and Cooper Posniak dominated, sweeping all motos in their respective classes. Fortune for some – despair for others. Pre-race points leader in the 12-U14 85cc class, Riley Dukes, did not compete due to a thumb injury, giving Rhys Budd the chance to take maximum points and the championship lead. Just back from injury, Brendan Walther suffered a broken arm in his first race, which will easily sideline him for another 4-6 weeks.

Monster Energy MX Nationals MX2-class points leader, Serco Yamaha’s Luke Clout gave the local riders a taste of the speed at our national level, winning all three motos comfortably. Clout still had to work his way past the local Pros in each race, but once he was in the lead, there was no-one that could match his pace. Unfortunately, a flat tyre for Clout in the first leg of the Eliminator meant that he had to sit out the rest of the race.

Privateer, Lawson Bopping, who is not contesting the Monster Energy MX Nationals this year headed out to compete in the Pro Open class. Bopping seemed to be in control every race, but a surge in the third moto from local rider, Daniel McEntee, took Bopping by surprise. McEntee caught and overtook Bopping to take out the final moto, but Bopping still took first Overall for the day. With the absence of pre-race Pro Open points leader Brock Winston, local boys – the Hart brothers – capitalised on points to now sit 1-2 in the Pro Open championship standings.

The East Coast MX team would like to thank their sponsors: Transmoto Dirt Bike Magazine, KTM, Honda, Kawasaki, Husqvarna, Ipone, LKI, TeeNCee Graphics, Mydrade, SSRacing, Reality Design, Sponsorpoint, Shock Treatment, Bear MX, Powerplus fuels, Axis Motorsports, F1 Moto, Express Hire, Hayters Sawmill, Exceptional Electrical Services, MX Photo and Real Media Productions.

The fourth round of the 2014 East Coast MX series, presented by Transmoto Dirt Bike Magazine, will be held on June 21-22 at Nowra.
