The East Coast MX Series presented by Transmoto gets under way this weekend at Lakes Motorcycle Club on the NSW Central Coast. With 450 riders predicted to line up at the gate, we asked series promoter, Race Pace’s Michel Constantinou, to give us his hot picks ahead of the season opener. Here’s who Constantinou singled out:

^ In the Junior Lites class, Honda’s new recruit Rhys Budd is coming off a dominating performance at Coffs Stadium MX. He is set to be in fighting form racing the Junior Lites 250 class at Round 1.

^ Three-time NSW State Champion in 2016, Johnny Bova, has high expectations for 2017. He is forecasted to be a title contender in the East Coast MX this year in the 125cc and 250cc 4-stroke Junior Lites classes.

^ The Pro Lites class is stacked for 2017. Coming in 2017 with momentum after finishing fourth in the MX Nationals last year in the MX2 class in his Rookie season, and sweeping both motos at Lakes Summercross last weekend, Jayden Rakers is set to race Round 1 of the ECMX series, getting his 2017 season under way with a few races under his belt.

^ New Team Yamaha recruit, Cooper Pozniak, battled with Jayden Rykers at Lakes Summercross, so this weekend’s ECMX will give him the chance for a rematch.

^ Jy Roberts is another young rider looking forward to a great year ahead as one of the Husqvarna Factory riders. He is excited to compete in the Pro Lites for Round 1, which he feels will be great preparation for his rookie season in MX Nationals.

^ Aaron Tanti will line up against Copper Pozniak and a host of young Junior rookies who have moved up into the Pro Lites this year.

^ The Pro Open class will asee a host of quick riders with the inclusion of the Wightman brothers. After the duo took out the 2016 East Coast championships in the 2016 Pro Lites and Pro Open classes, Joel has stepped up to the Pro Open class in 2017.

^ Local south coast Pro, Kurt Gow, will battle the Wightman brothers for the East Coast MX Series title in the Pro Open class this year. The Husqvarna rider has been one of the top privateers racing the MX Nationals in the MX1 division over the past couple of seasons.

^ Three-time East Coast MX Series champion, Corey James, is back for another season. He will fancy his chances in the Pro Open class at Round 1.
