East Coast MX series wraps up with Round 5 at Oakdale

The final round of the East Coast MX Series, presented by Transmoto Dirt Bike Magazine, finished off in style at Oakdale with perfect, sunny conditions. Although some of the class champions had already been decided, other classes were going down to the wire.

277 competitors entered the fifth and final round, to contest for top honours on the day, and for the series. On Saturday, the juniors fired up with some bar-to-bar racing. Another stand out performance from Dirt Bike Factory/Motocomposites KTM rider Dylan Heaton, winning five out of six races, lead to taking the Championship in both the 12-U16 85cc and 12-U16 150cc 2-stroke classes. Other winners on the day included MXR&D rider Blake Hollis in the 7-U9 50cc class, Jesse Pearce-Smith in the 7-U10 65cc class, MXR&D/Teencee rider Rhys Budd in the 10-U13 65cc and 9-U12 85cc classes, and Jarrod Kelly in the 13-U16 250cc 4-stroke class. At the end of the day, the bobcat driver from Lindsay Civil tidied up the track in preparation for Sunday’s racing.

Series promoter, Michel Constantinou, made a special guest appearance aboard his KTM 250 SX-F, provided by MXR&D and JDR Motorsports. After a tight battle with the title contenders in the A/B Lites class, the 35-year-old ended up on the podium with a 3-3-2 result. With 3 different winners on the day, Dwayne Stadthaus eventually took out the Overall in the A/B Lites class. Teencee Grafix rider Corey James won the A/B Open class, as well as the Championship in both the A/B Lites and A/B Open classes.

Other class winners included Lenny Magyar in the C-Grade Lites class, Mitch Stokoe in the C-Grade Open class, Jake Donaher in the U19 Lites class, Sponsorpoint/Putoline/Shot Gear rider Adam Bland in the 30-39 Vets class, Michael Turner in the 40+ Vets class, and Sutto’s KTM Tayla Jones in the Womens class.
