DUCATI DESERTX: THE MAKING OF…
For those of us with a leaning toward the off-road side of two-wheeled life, the DesertX is without doubt the most eagerly anticipated Ducati model ever released. Aside from the fact it’s the Italian manufacturer’s first genuine foray into the mid-capacity adventure bike market, the DesertX’s combination of retro styling and cutting-edge technology has certainly attracted plenty of attention. Plus, with 18- and 21-inch spoked wheels, long-travel Kayaba suspension, generous ground clearance, 110 horsepower and a world-class electronics package, this machine promises to have serious off-road capabilities.
But what’s the story behind the DesertX’s – from concept to drawing board to production model to the world? Ahead of this all-new model’s release (expected to arrive in Australia in the third quarter of 2022 at a Recommended Ride Away Price of $24,200 AUD and $24,995 NZD), Ducati has created and dropped a “The Making Of” video edit that sheds more light on the background to the DesertX, and it’s well worth a watch.
PS: Word on the street is that the first DesertX to arrive in Australia will be on display by mid-June at Ducati’s flagship Sydney dealership in Alexandria, right next door to the company’s HQ. Keep an eye on our social channels, where we’ll update you with that arrival date.
