Mullins sidelined after practice crash
Yesterday, current GNCC and AMA National Enduro point leader, Factory FMF/KTM rider Charlie Mullins, suffered an unfortunate crash during a practice ride back in his home state of North Carolina. The off left him with a badly fractured wrist that required surgery. Thanks to the severity of the break, Charlie isn’t expected to be cleared to ride until late August/September – meaning he will be hoping to return to racing just in time for Round 10 at Unadilla.
With only two rounds of the GNCC left before the seven week break, Mullins will now be forced to relinquish his seven point lead over Kailub Russell, who holds a 40-point gap over Australia’s Josh Strang. This is a disappointing outcome for the 2011 GNCC Champion, who was on track to back up his 2013 AMA National Enduro championship and add another Outright GNCC Series trophy to his cabinet.
Overall National Championship Standings:
- Charlie Mullins (180)
- Kailub Russell (173)
- Josh Strang (132)
- Jordan Ashburn (111)
- Paul Whibley (99)
- Grant Baylor (91)
- Ricky Russell (89)
- Andrew Delong (86)
- Steward Baylor (71)
- Chris Bach (65)
