Aussie Ryan Brown took out Norfolk Island’s Battle Of The Rock FMX competition over the weekend in a close fought head-to-head final against fellow countryman, Pete Anderson.

Brown was the man to beat after dominating qualifying with his smooth style and huge extended combo Flip tricks including the Switchblade Can, Ruler, No Hand and Underflip against a solid line-up of Aussie and Kiwi FMX riders.

1200 locals, which is pretty much everyone on the small island that is a territory of Australia, enjoyed the head-to-head rider-judged format that saw Brown knock out Joe Sheppard in round one and Kain Saul in the semi-final before an epic showdown against Anderson, who delivered the strongest run of his career with perfectly executed tricks including his huge Dead Body, Cordova Flip and One Handed Hart Attack, but just wasn’t strong enough to beat the in-form Brown. Brad Burch rounded out the podium followed by Saul and Tom Robinson making up the top five.

The Best Trick comp saw riders throw down two of their biggest tricks with the best one counting, and it came down to three riders executing the same trick that impressed the most being a Ruler Flip by Kain Saul, Anderson and Brown. Brown had the advantage of seeing the others jump first and blew the crowd away with one of the biggest extended Ruler Flips he’s ever pulled to secure the win.

Aussie Tom Robinson turned his bike inside out with a mind bending Turndown to take out Best Whip, narrowly edging out Joe Sheppard and Brown.
