MEET THE ATHLETE: JYE DICKSON

7 months ago | Words: Matt Bernard | Photos: Troy Pears

Beta Australia has intensified its racing efforts in 2024, showcasing a variety of racers across a range of disciplines aboard Beta’s impressive motorcycles. Over the next few weeks, we’ll introduce you to some of Beta’s Australian athletes. This week, get to know Jye Dickson.

Give us your vital stats.

My name is Jye Dickson, I’m 24 years old from Newcastle, NSW.

When did you start riding and when did you start competing?

I started riding when I was 5 years old. I began racing flat track straight away and then moved over to motocross a year later.

What has your most memorable achievement been so far in your racing career?

It would probably be getting an equal 4th outright and 3rd in my class in my first year doing the AORC series.

How long have you been racing Enduro, and how are you finding it and what made you make the switch?

For a year and a half now, with last year being my first full season. Enduro rekindled my passion for dirt bikes. After four years of racing ProMX mixed with some injuries and the COVID-19 situation, I definitely got burned out and needed a change.

You’re new to the Beta Motorcycles Australia Team, how did the relationship come about?

This is my first year riding for Beta Australia. Ash Martin (Race Team Manager) approached me at the final round of AORC last year, saying he’d like to get me on a Beta for 2024. After talking to some people and hearing all the good reviews and success they have in the EnduroGP, it was an easy decision.

How are you feeling on the new bike?

I’m really enjoying the new bike; I feel really comfortable on it, especially in the tight technical bush, which is one of my weaknesses.

What are you hoping to achieve this season?

My goals for this year will be to try and better my riding every time I’m on the bike and let the results come to me.

What tips do you have for young riders looking to compete in the near future?

Any tips I could give to younger riders would be to just enjoy riding your bike and not to stress too much about results.
