GATE DROP WITH CHAD REED & COOPER WEBB

When Chad Reed is on the road with his family, the focus of their prolific “The Reeds” YouTube content is usually about his kids’ racing exploits. But when the Reeds rolled into the 221 Motocross track in North Carolina a few weeks back, they ran into another two-time AMA 450SX champ, Red Bull KTM Factory Racing’s Cooper Webb. And because racers will always be racers, it wasn’t long before Webb challenged Reedy to a race or two.

According to his kids, Chad’s ‘regular’ KTM would be no match for Webb’s Red Bull KTM. Whatever the case, how cool is it to see these two giants of the sport – the #2 and the #22 – going at it like a couple of teenagers at a local club meet. As Chad’s wife, Ellie, put it, “The moral of the story is that racers just love to ride and race. They both don’t need to be here racing, and yet this is how they choose to spend their weekend. And that says a lot about who they both are”.

You never know; if Webb gets his way and lines up for the opening round of the World Supercross Championship in Wales this October, Reed and Webb might just be banging bars on a supercross track all over again too?
