WATERS & WILLS TO SPEARHEAD HUSKY MX TEAM

If you’ve ever spoken with 2019 Australian MX1 Champion, Todd Waters, then you’ll know exactly how passionate the bloke is – about life and his racing – and how disappointed he was not to be able repeat his 2019 title-winning success after the 2021 season was abbreviated to just three rounds (there was no national MX series in 2020, due to Covid).

For 2022, Husqvarna Motorcycles has announced that the 31-year-old Waters will be joined by 25-year-old Dylan Wills on a beefed-up Husqvarna Racing Team – a pairing that’s likely to benefit both riders. Here’s the full transcript of Husqvarna Motorcycles’ PR about their 2022 factory team…

Husqvarna Racing Team will elevate its motocross effort for the 2022 season, seeing former national champion, Todd Waters, return and to be joined by newly signed MX2 racer Dylan Wills.

Former national champion Waters is determined to reclaim the number-one plate next year, the 31-year-old certain to be a formidable force aboard the FC450. He was third overall in the shortened 2021 ProMX series.

Waters and Husqvarna won the 2019 Australian MX1 Championship together, and the experienced Queenslander has also achieved international success in his career, previously standing on the MXGP podium.

In addition, Wills is a proven MX2 podium threat and will benefit from increased structure as he joins the brand onboard a FC250 for the 2022 season. The 25-year-old from Sydney is looking forward to gate-drop next year and showing what he is capable of, motivated to improve on his sixth position scored in this season.

Todd Waters: “For myself, continuing the relationship with Husqvarna is the most important thing for me in my career at the moment. We jumped back on Husqvarna in 2019 and we brought home the 450-class motocross championship, so I’m really excited and we’ve got a really good bike under us in the FC450. Kyle Blunden has come onboard to manage the program and I’m really happy with the program moving forwards. My mechanic Jason Waters – my cousin – is my practice mechanic as well as my race-day mechanic, so heading into 2022 our program is faultless. I’m working hard at the moment, excited to get back racing.”

Dylan Wills: “I’m really excited for the opportunity. One thing I think I needed in my career to take the next step is structure and some great people in my corner. In the Husqvarna Racing Team, I get all of that. I’ve got some really good relationships throughout the staff from being around and knowing everyone for so long now and I’m confident this is the opportunity that I’ve been looking for, for quite a while now. It’s fallen into my lap and it’s up to me to make the most of it, so I’m excited.”
