SERCO’S 2018 YZ250F BIKE BUILD (PART 2)

3 years ago | Words: Andy Wigan | Photos: MXstore

You’re probably familiar with the entertaining and informative ‘Wreckers to Checkers’ video series recently put together by the crew from MXstore, right? If not, the series basically documents the journeys of three MXstore staffers who each find an old bike (the ‘Wrecker’) and restore it within a strict budget to win themselves the ultimate bragging rights (the ‘Checkers’).

But what if the bike wasn’t old? And better still, what if there were no rules and no budget? Well, that’s exactly what the Serco Motorsport crew (who’ve run Yamaha’s official national MX2 team for the past 20 years) were thinking when they called Jena from MXstore and offered to give her 2018 YZ250F a pro-level performance make-over. Yep, an offer too good to refuse!

Here’s the final instalment of the two-part video series about the mods made to Jena’s machine.

Part 2 – The Final Product: Part 2 of Bike Builds with Serco and it’s D-day. The crew at Serco turn Jena’s YZ250F into a race-ready factory bike. Witness the impressive mechanical skills from the crew at Serco, building one amazing 2018 YZ250F. Jena also gets to take her freshly built bike out to a local race day at Stanmore on the Gold Coast and put the bike through its paces. So, what does she think?

Want to know more about Serco and this bike build? Check out the background info here.

If you missed Part 1, you can check it out here.

Part 1 – The Initial Contact: Watch the Serco crew completely tear into Jena’s YZ250F ready for its big makeover. From the Dyno to the workbench, to the water blaster, this bike gets worked on by every crew member and touched by nearly every tool in the race team’s workshop.
