230 WOMEN ON TWO WHEELS

By all accounts, Jemma Wilson Events’ second Husqvarna Motorcycles Women’s Trailride was an immense success. Held in mid June at Queensland iconic Green Park, in the Sunshine Coast’s picturesque hinterland, the event attracted 230 ladies, all of them there to experience the enjoyment of two-wheels along with a bunch of off-track entertainment.

Yep, not only was the two-day event about encouraging women to get out and ride dirt bikes together; it was also coupled with fun-filled activities (the highlight of which was the Ice Cream Relay Race), as well as live music and a campfire bar on Saturday night to recap the thrills of day one. A selection of hand-picked experts were on hand to make the experience as enjoyable as possible for everybody in attendance, including helpful mechanics who shared their knowledge along the way, pied-piper sweep riders, and trained coaches who assisted anywhere and everywhere throughout the two days.

“From grass tracks to motocross and long and short enduro loops, the riding on offer catered to all different levels of experience and made for a memorable couple of days on the bike for all in attendance,” explained Rosie Lalonde, Marketing Manager for Husqvarna Motorcycles Australia. “The Husqvarna Motorcycles Women’s Trailride is the ultimate destination for ladies to get out and ride together in a professional event setting, and being a part of it was fantastic. Jemma and her crew run a smooth and fun event, which is focused on encouraging girls of all ages to get out and ride their dirt bikes. We are proud to be part of this unique experience and cannot wait for the next one.”

According to Jemma Wilson, “The all-ladies environment is really special and we truly promote an inclusive vibe – all the girls look out for one another, from three-year-olds right through to those in their 60s. We’ve had everybody from near first-timers to girls who used to race together 10 years ago, so it’s really nice to see them crossing paths at our events. Because we encourage everybody to come by themselves (and leave the hubbies at home), we help in unloading bikes, provide professional mechanics who also help teach the girls, pied-pipers and heaps of sweep riders who are all hand-selected to be a wonderful help. We first did it in 2019, so after having to cancel it last year, it was great to be back in 2021 and we had the perfect amount of riders join in. Off-track, this time around we had some live music on Saturday night, a Young Henrys bar with beer and cocktails, making new friends around the fire with women who have had the same experience as each-other that day, so it was fantastic,” the vivacious Wilson went on to say.
