Transmoto 8-Hour @ Wang: Husky Winner!

If you were at Wangaratta’s inaugural Transmoto 8-Hour in mid September, or eyeballed the event’s highlights video, then you’ll know what an absolute cracker it was. And for a 21-year-old bloke called Ryan Morrison, that weekend at Wang was extra special; it was one he’ll never forget because his name was drawn out of the hat as the winner of the brand new 2020-model Husqvarna. Ryan had the choice of any model in Husky’s 2020 enduro or cross-country model range and, a few weeks after the event, made a beeline for R&D Husky in Western Sydney to collect his white windfall.

“It’s funny because during the prize-raffle draw on Saturday arvo at Wangaratta, I was actually asking my mates how to enter the competition to win the Husqvarna. I didn’t even realise that everyone who’d entered the event was automatically in the draw to win it,” Ryan explained, with a laugh. “Then the next thing I know, my name’s being called out by [Husqvarna Pro rider] Daniel Sanders. I mean, besides a NSW state enduro I raced about five years ago, Wangaratta was pretty much my first enduro race – and the first Transmoto event I’d ever ridden – and, bang, I’ve won a bloody bike! I was in shock. Didn’t know what to say.
“Aside from winning the bike, we had a great weekend at the 8-Hour. I was there with my old man and bothers and a bunch of mates, and we all had a ball. Me and my brothers pretty much only ride motocross, but the 8-Hour really opened our eyes to how fun these team enduro events can be.”
So, which 2020 Husqvarna did go for? “It was actually a pretty tough choice because Husky has so many options, but I went with the FE350 in the end because I keep hearing that it’s just such a great all-rounder. Plus, Husky’s 2020 enduro models get a heap of updates that the MX bikes got last year, which makes them new-generation, I suppose. Geoff Mackin from R&D Husky, where I picked it up from, was really good to deal with and got me to pose for a few ‘handover’ shots. So far, I’ve only taken it on a couple of rides around home, and have put about 50 kays on it. I love the thing, mate. Aside from racing more of the Transmoto events next year on the FE350, I reckon I might even have a spin on it at a few rounds of the Amcross series. It’s that versatile,” Ryan went on to say.
