Transmoto 8-Hour @ Coffs: KTM Winner
As showcased by the highlights video for the 2019 Transmoto 8-Hour at Coffs Harbour, our inaugural event in NSW’s Mid-North Coast was an absolute cracker. Perfect April weather with a sweet race loop that included technical singletrail and loads of fast, flowing grasstrack. And a really appreciative cross-section of riders for whom the 8-Hour was their first ever Transmoto event.
One bloke walked away from that Coffs weekend even happier than everyone else because he won himself a 2019-model KTM simply for entering the event. His name is Henry Cox, a 17-year-old from Gerringong, NSW, who couldn’t believe his ears when his name was drawn out of the hat on Sunday morning just before the race got underway.
“I was standing on the startline getting my team mate ready for the race but had one ear eagerly listening out for the announcement of the bike winner,” said Cox. “When I heard the winner was 17, I was thinking to myself I’ll probably know this guy, but when I heard my name I was blown away.”
“It’s unreal to come away from such a fun event with a new KTM. After my 2015 KTM 300EXC was written-off after it came off the trailer on the way to the Transmoto 12-Hour earlier in the year.
Being able to ride a new 2019 KTM 300EXC TPI instead of my bosses’ old loaner 200EXC is going to be epic. I’ve ridden a mates 300 and loved it, so I’m really looking forward to riding this new fuel-injected weapon.”
“I’ve chosen to pick the bike up through KTM Newcastle because they have always been awesome to me”
“Overall, it was a great experience at my second Transmoto event, my mates and I had a ball up at Coffs. We are already locked in for our next one at Nabiac in late June for another ripper,” Cox went on to explain.
For the record, Henry’s ‘Rum Pig Hunters’ team were runners up in the Young Guns (all riders under 23) team category, and ran a respectable 26th Outright.
