FIRST LOOK: 2027 KTM 690 RALLY
So, what do you get when KTM bolts a rally tower and 20 litres of fuel capacity onto its 690 Enduro R? A bike the Austrians reckon is the spiritual successor to the long-departed 640 Adventure – and one that’s due in Australian and Kiwi dealers before the year is out.
That’s the guts of KTM’s 2027 690 Rally reveal, and it’s the sort of news that’ll have a very specific slice of the Australian riding population sitting up and listening. You know the ones – the dudes who’ve spent the past decade cobbling together their own big-tank, tower-fronted desert weapons out of 690s and 701s, with whatever rally fairing they could rustle up from Europe. KTM has now done the hard part for them.
The recipe reads simply enough. Take the proven 690 Enduro R platform, add a purpose-built rally tower with an integrated windshield to create a proper rally cockpit, then bolt on dual front-mounted fuel tanks to push capacity out to around 20 litres. What you’re left with, on paper at least, is a long-legged single that’ll deal with technical terrain and then sit at a decent clip down a liaison section without needing a fuel stop every hour – which is precisely the brief for anyone who’s ever looked at a map of outback Australia and wondered how far they could get.
The 2027 KTM 690 Rally is confirmed for authorised KTM dealers in Australia and New Zealand from December 2026, but there’s no local pricing, no claimed weight and no spec sheet to pore over just yet.
Here’s what KTM has divulged about its new rally-raid single…

KTM returns to its Rally Raid roots with the highly anticipated 2027 KTM 690 Rally, reconnecting with a legacy built on long-distance off-road exploration and uncompromising terrain performance.
Positioned as the spiritual successor to the iconic KTM 640 Adventure, the KTM 690 Rally brings rally-inspired purpose back to the LC4 platform – an invitation to go further and ride longer. It enables riders not to find themselves, but to meet themselves beyond the familiar.

Designed for riders who understand that the real journey begins where the pavement ends, the KTM 690 Rally is built to tackle demanding terrain and extended adventures. Away from routine and expectation, riders are left with what matters most: the terrain ahead, the distance to cover, and the experience that comes with it. Out there, distractions fade away and the focus shifts entirely to the ride itself. It is this spirit of exploration and discovery that lies at the heart of the KTM 690 Rally, revealing a side of yourself not yet explored.
Built on the proven KTM 690 Enduro R platform, the KTM 690 Rally evolves its dual-sport foundation with a clear focus on extended range, stability, and long-distance usability. A purpose-built rally tower with integrated windshield creates a true rally cockpit, while dual front-mounted fuel tanks increase capacity to approximately 20 litres, enabling deeper exploration into remote environments with confidence.

Designed to perform across everything from technical off-road terrain to high-speed liaison sections, the KTM 690 Rally bridges the gap between lightweight enduro agility and rally-level endurance. The machine is built not just to handle the journey, but to intensify it.
Because out there, the trail reveals more than what lies ahead. In those moments, you do not find yourself – you meet yourself. For the first time.
The only question is – will you go out?
The new 2027 KTM 690 Rally will be available at authorised KTM dealers from December 2026 onwards in Australia and New Zealand. For more information, visit KTM.com.
