NIGHT of the JUMPs Sanliurfa 2010

11 glorious FMX athletes out of seven nations will fight in the “pond of Abraham” for World Championship points.

On May 15th/16th the IFMXF will come with the NIGHT of the JUMPs / FIM Freestyle MX World Championship for the first time to Turkey. Venue of the fifth and sixth contest of the Freestyle Motocross World Cup will be the holy city of Sanliurfa. According to Islamic tradition, Abraham was born here. 11 riders from seven nations will fight with breakneck tricks for important World Championship points.

The GAP stadium Sanliurfa can become a place of pilgrimage in Freestyle Motocross. The absence of the current world championship leader Rob Adelberg gives Libor Podmol the opportunity to collect 40 World Championship points, if he wins twice. This would bring the Czech rider in a really good position to win the FIM Freestyle MX World Championship title in 2010. And after three vice world championships for Podmol a victory would have historical significance. But for sure the runners up in the World Championship ranking around Jore Miralles, Brice Izzo and Brody Wilson will do everything to beat Podmol in Sanliurfa.

The NIGHT of the JUMPs is the oldest and biggest international Freestyle MX series worldwide. It is the perfect mixture of international top sport (FIM Freestyle MX World Championship) and classical show elements as pyrotechnics and special light shows.

The first NIGHT oft he JUMPs took part in 2001. Since 10 years the series has developed to the top sport series in Freestyle Motocross. World Champions were crowned and Superstars were born over the years, those who are no invited to the other big shows of the continent. We are curious which idols will rise from this year’s series. For 2010 even more rider battle for the title that was won by Mat Rebeaud (SUI ’06), Ailo Gaup (NOR’ 07) and Remi Bizouard (FRA ’08 and ’09) before.

In 2010 a group of the world’s best riders out of 10 nations will be invited to the FIM Freestyle MX World Championship contests. For the NIGHT of the JUMPs in Sanliurfa three times Vice World Champion Libor Podmol (CZE) the current runner-up Jose Miralles (ESP), Brody Wilson (USA), Alastair Sayer (BOT), Brice Izzo (FRA), Massimo Bianconcini (ITA), the tandem-Back Flipper Petr Pilat (CZE), the two-time German FMX champion Hannes Ackermann (GER), Fabian Bauersachs (GER), David Rinaldo (FRA) and Lukas Weis (GER) are confirmed. All athletes will show their latest and toughest backflip combinations, and other fantastic tricks in Sanliurfa. More extreme Freestyle sport has never been seen in Turkey in one of the holiest sites in the Islamic culture at all!

Unfortunately the Turkish local hero Gökhan Dormus cannot take part in the action due to an injury. But he will join the IFMXF jury next to Jason Moriarty, Marco Roth, Alvaro dal Farra and Sven Macha.
