Hollis and Price head to Hedley for massive showdown

Only days remain before some of Australia’s best off-road riders descend on Hedley in Victoria, for the third and fourth rounds of the 2011 Yamaha Australian Off-Road Championship (AORC) on 28 and 29 May.

Currently leading the Championship outright and also topping the E2 class is Port Macquarie local Chris Hollis (Yamaha).

The 26-year-old sits four points clear in the outright standings, ahead of KTM rider Jarrod Bewley, and has a seven-point buffer in the E2 class ahead of Polish import and Husqvarna rider Bartosz Obluki.

Looking to make up for a disappointing start to the season will be reigning Champion and KTM rider Toby Price.

The Singleton local will be looking to make up some serious ground in the points stakes, with a 19-point gap Outright, and a 22-point gap in the E2 class standing in his way.

Returning to the AORC after riding in Europe will be Soldiers Point local Josh Green, who will front up against both Price and Hollis in the E2 class.

Run in conjunction with the sixth and seventh rounds of the Victorian Off-Road Series, local rider can look forward to rubbing shoulders with the who’s who of the Australian Off Road scene, including the likes of Stefan Merriman, Glenn Kearney, Jarrod Bewley, and Ben Grabham.

Chilly conditions are forecast for the weekend of racing, providing a stark contrast to the hot and dusty conditions at the first two rounds.

The Championship round will be hosted by the Corner Inlet Motorcycle Club on Faheys Rd, Hedley, Vic.

Racing will start from around 8:20am (Juniors) on Saturday and the format will be Cross Country for Saturday and Sprints on Sunday.
