News from Moto Magazine this morning is that Ken Roczen could race the first round of the East Coast series at Houston this weekend on the 350 KTM. After pulling five rounds in the West Coast Lites, the real question is why isn’t he resting up?

Is it a mistake for the 16-year-old German rider to move up and race against James Stewart, Chad Reed and Ryan Villopoto when they have 450cc bikes? You have to remember, this is the first year of Supercross for the young rider, and he hasn’t exactly had a smooth start — with multiple crashes in the first few rounds.

Plus, Roczen only has two months to prepare for the World Motocross Championship, starting on April 10. Is he pushing it too far to soon?

Moto’s sister magazine, in Germany at MotoX, posted this today, (translated from German):
The rest of the West / Lites class this coming weekend, Ken Roczen not use the catch. The 16-year-old will instead Mattstedt at Reliant Stadium in Houston on the side of Andrew Short and Mike Alessi on the KTM in the 350cc Supercross class with James Stewart and Co. try. This sporting director confirmed KTM Pit Beirer today towards our colleague Harald Englert of Speed Week. “Ken is testing even with the 350 run at and had a lot of fun doing it” , so Beirne. “So the idea is this excursion into the great class even for prior two or three weeks were. Specifically, it was only after the podium last Saturday. The boys are the United States a few more tests go in ‘ , so Beirer further. “If there’s nothing unexpected happens, it gives the green light.”

No official word has been put out yet from KTM.
