2017 Shercos To Get New Fork?

Fast-growing French manufacturer, Sherco, has unveiled its 2016 range of limited-edition ‘Factory Edition’ models this week. In addition to several of the performance enhancements that have appeared on previous limited-edition machines from Sherco, it’s interesting to note that these 2016 Factory models also come with a new closed-cartridge WP fork. And the news has added weight to speculation that Sherco’s 2017 bikes will also be beneficiaries of the more sophisticated front suspension componentry for the first time, thereby bolstering the brand’s already race-ready component spec.

Sherco Australia confirmed with Transmoto that the recently landed 2016 Factory Edition models all come equipped with:

  • WP’s 48mm closed-cartridge 4860 MXMA fork. This appears to be very similar to WP’s closed-cartridge fork that came on KTM’s MX models up until 2014 (after which it was replaced by WP’s much-maligned 4CS fork), but it’s been tuned specifically for off-road applications. The closed-cartridge WP fork has always been renowned for its wide range of adjustment and tunability, and is widely expected to appear on Sherco’s 2017 two- and four-stroke ‘Racing’ models, which are due to be unveiled in early July.
  • Lightweight, high-performance exhaust systems. The four-stroke Factory models get a full Akrapovic exhaust system, while the two-strokes are fitted with an FMF expansion chamber and muffler.
  • Translucent fuel tank.
  • Solid rear brake disc.
  • AXP alloy bashplate.
  • Blue anodised rims.
  • Double Grip 3 seat.
  • Dual-colour Sherco grips.
  • Special Factory Edition fluro graphics.

“The 2016 Factory models have taken the Sherco Factory concept to the next level,” says Sherco Australia’s Stephen Tuff. “The blue anodised rims really set off the Factory look, and the closed-cartridge fork is a very exciting upgrade. This fork comes with an extremely solid reputation amongst top-level riders for a reason. It offers more adjustability and can stand up to motocross-style punishment, while still offering excellent performance on the trails.”

  • 300SEF-R – $14,190
  • 450SEF-R – $14,790
  • 250SE-R – $13,090
  • 300SE-R – $13,490
