2017 ECMX Series: Round 4 Results

8 years ago | Words: Michel Constantinou | Photos: MXphoto

We’re getting to the pointy end of the East Coast MX Series, with the final round only a month away. It was a hectic weekend for Rnd4 on 24-25 June in Maitland, with exciting racing, some big crashes and changes in the championship standings. Probably the most notable was Joel Wightman, unfortunately, the Pro Open championship leader over jumped a table-top and went over the handlebars in his 2nd race of the day. We wish Joel a speedy recovery and hope the CRF Honda Racing pilot will be back soon. Corey James rode his Yamaha to a consistent 3rd overall on the day, but most importantly he inherits an almost insurmountable points lead in the premier class. Factory Honda rider Todd Waters put on a clinic in the Pro Open winning all 4 motos, but ironman Kyle Webster was most impressive finishing 2nd overall to Waters and dominating the Pro Lites with a clean sweep of all his races.

The final round of the East Coast MX Series will be in Cessnock, NSW on 22-23 July. Expect some fireworks because some championships could change hands with Round 5 being a double-points round.
