2015 HUSQVARNAS UNVEILED

Husqvarna has pulled back the curtains on the much-anticipated 2015 range of motocross and enduro models. As we alluded to a month ago, the new range features much of the refinements KTM’s 2015 range (motocross and enduro) received along with a few other cosmetic tweaks.

Transmoto will be attending next week’s launch of the new bikes in Lulea, Sweden. Despite all Husqvarna’s talk last year about “design divergence from KTM”,  the upgrade info doesn’t indicate there’s a hell of a lot of it … not for 2015 anyway. Perhaps more significant changes will be uncovered in Sweden? Stay tuned for more information on availability and pricing as soon as it’s available…

MOTOCROSS MODEL-RANGE

Nearly all of the changes to the FC (four-stroke) and TC (two-stroke) model ranges are identical to those seen on 2015 Katos, except the Husky will get the all-new motocross-specific WP 4CS fork in all markets, whereas KTM only gave it to the US and Australian bikes. A new shock with a 4mm longer stroke length, revised linkage geometry and a smaller-diameter 22mm front axle round out the key differences from the 2014 models. The FC250 and 350 also receive an improved clutch basket and spring design in the CCS (coil steel spring) clutch.

Here are the official upgrades:

  • New WP 4CS fork have been specifically designed for motocross with improved damping.
  • New 22mm front axle reduces unsprung weight and increases feeling.
  • New linkage geometry with optimised rising rate and weight reduction.
  • New shock with 4 mm more stroke and new setting.
  • New clutch basket and springs on the FC 250 and FC 350 saves weight and improves consistency.
  • New lighter swingarm on the TC85.
  • New fork protectors easier to replace and maintain.
  • New handguards for better impact resistance.
  • New graphics differentiated from enduro models.
  • New Neken handlebar and bar pad.

ENDURO MODEL-RANGE

The enduro bikes are treated to key upgrades to all seven models in line with the new Katos. The front headlight has been changed, and its mounting bracket has been swapped out in favour of a more conventional fender. All the enduro models retain the WP 4CS closed-cartridge fork and the two-strokes see upgrades to jetting, power-valve (TE250 only) and carburetor settings for smoother power delivery as well as the new lightweight 3Ah battery (TE250/300). The FE250 also gets a longer sixth gear for transport sections or fast firetrail.

Here are the official upgrades:

  • New headlight and mask for distinctive Husqvarna looks.
  • Same front fender as the motocross bikes for easier mounting.
  • New CNC machined triple clamps adapted to a new front fender.
  • All models feature the advanced WP 4CS closed cartridge front fork with four separate chambers.
  • New clutch basket and springs on the FE250 and FE350 saves weight and improves consistency.
  • The FE250 features a longer sixth gear for better transfer capabilities.
  • New carburetor setting on the TE125 for better, smoother power delivery.
  • New power-valve and carburetor setting on the TE250 for better, smoother power delivery.
  • New shorter gearing on TE250 and TE300 electric starter aids better starting.
  • Both TE250 and TE300 feature a new, lighter, more efficient 3Ah battery.

WHAT ELSE CAN WE UNCOVER?

We have observed a few things that haven’t been mentioned in the official press release:

  • Along with the prominent graphics change, the seat covers on the motocross models are noticeably different. The FC and TC models get an extra panel with yellow detailing. This differentiates them from the 2014 models, and even though the seat shape seems to be still the same, they appear different to the enduro models.
  • There has been no mention of whether the Huskys get the refined handguards with the new chemically bonded material. Does this mean they remain the same?
  • The motocross models receive non-enclosed fork guards to accompany the change to the 4CS fork’s 22mm front axle. The enduro bikes continue to feature wrap-around closed fork guards.
