2014 Yamaha YZ450F? 2014 Honda CRF250R?
At the opening round of the 2013 All Japan National Motocross Championship Series, held in Kumamoto over the weekend, the world was treated with a first tantalising look into what could very well be a pre-production 2014 Yamaha YZ450F. This YZ450F, it appears, has an all-new frame, airbox, subframe and exhaust. The fuel cap now sits under the front part of the seat, which is now in two parts. And contrary to all the speculation, it would appear that Yamaha has not moved away from the reverse cylinder engine for 2014. Instead, the mounting position and angle of the engine appears different, which allows more space for the wrap-around style header pipe and shorter muffler. The question remains how many of these mods will end up on the production machines to be released later in the year.
Also unveiled was Honda’s all-new CRF250R. The CFR250R appears to be just like the current CRF450R, complete with new bodywork and a dual muffler arrangement.
