CDR Yamaha has announced the signing of up-and-coming MX1 star, Jacob Wright, to the factory Yamaha team for season 2015.

Wright has proven to be a revelation in the MX1 class since taking up a guest ride with CDR Yamaha during the MX National season, storming home in the final rounds of the championship highlighted with race wins and podium positions.

Wright finished an impressive fifth place Overall in the 2014 MX Nationals and has gelled well with the factory Yamaha outfit. His signature for the 2015 season was merely a formality with both parties reaching an agreement during the final round of the MX Nationals at Coolum.

“Getting the opportunity to work with the CDR team as a guest rider has been amazing and now to represent them in 2015 is a dream that I have long chased,” said Wright. “I have never realised how important it is to have the right people around me but since working with the CDR team, my results have improved and just as importantly, I really enjoy my time at the track.”

“It is a privilege to race for the best race team in Australia and I can’t thank Craig and the team enough for giving me the chance to take on the guest ride,” continued Wright. “I’m already looking forward to next season and excited about what the future brings.”

Team Owner, Craig Dack, sees a big future for Wright and looks forward to working with the talented 19-year-old Queenslander.

“We threw Jacob a lifeline just prior to the Conondale round of the MX Nationals and to his credit, he grabbed it with both hands and ran with it,” said Dack. “I’m impressed with his speed and bike skill and I can still see plenty of room for improvement in other areas, so I think things can only improve from here. Every time he has raced with us he has improved and his relationship with the team is good. We see Jacob as a long-term prospect for the CDR Yamaha team who can win races and championships right from the get go. Jacob has shown glimpses of what he can do and as our relationship develops, we can fine tune his program and continue to assist him to be a better racer.”

Wright’s immediate plans include working with the team to develop the bike and contest selected races towards the end of the year.

The complete CDR Yamaha rider line-up for 2015 will be announced in the near future.
