The ProPower International Story

10 years ago | Words: Matt Rotin

Managing Director at ProPower International, Matt Rotin, explains what his cutting edge brand that specialises in carbon fibre dirt-bike mods is all about.

“I like to describe ProPower International as a small company with big ideas. The brand concept came to me during my first visit to America. I travelled all the way over there to ride with the best motocross racers in the world and experience the mecca of MX that is Southern California. I spent close to two and a half years over there, enjoying that scene, and along the way I found myself becoming involved with some of the aftermarket companies based over there. When I saw the opportunity to combine my engineering skills with my love for dirt bikes, it made perfect sense to me to start ProPower International.

“I’ve always had a fascination with exotic materials, and there is nothing more exotic than carbon fibre. Everything I design must be superior to what already exists within that field. Functionally, our pipe guards are the thickest on the market, and they are super tough, which is the first thing you will notice when picking one up. We revised the lay-up to include other materials, to help with shock distribution. Finally, we improved the aesthetics by adding colour, which we’re really stoked on. We have produced these things in red, yellow, blue and black.

“After covering most of the popular bike brands, we started our frame guard program, making premium frame guards for enduro bikes such as Husqvarnas and Betas. We have a strong affiliation with Beta Australia and work closely with them to develop required parts. This allows Beta to obtain custom parts, and in return, we gain valuable development knowledge.

“We have a lot more than carbon fibre on our minds for the future – we will soon be releasing our own exhaust systems, which have been in development for quite some time, as well as various other aluminum and titanium protective and performance parts.

“The term ‘factory’ has always been reserved for the gods of our sport. My goal is to give this gift back to mere mortals. I want everyone to be able to experience parts that are fit for a King.”
