THE FINAL STAND: EAST COAST MX 2022

The iconic Dargle track hosted final round of the East Coast MX championship last weekend. The track layout was a mixture of old school motocross with a few fifth gear tapped straights, grassy sweeping corners and a sand section, which, in combination tested the riders abilities throughout the day.

With championships on the line, some competitors consolidated their points lead, whereas other class championships changed hands on the day. Dylan Wood took out the overall honours as well as two championships in the MX Open and 450 class. Fellow KTM rider Rory Fairbrother did exactly what was needed and rode to a consistent fourth overall on the day to wrap up the 250 Pro championship.

The Yamaha GYTR Team claimed double championship victories over four classes with Seth Burchell winning both the 125cc and 250cc Junior Lites divisions in both the overall for the final round, and the championships. His younger team mate Heath Davy won five out six races in the 9-11 65cc and 9-11 85cc but a DNF in the first race on the 65cc kept him off the podium for the day, but it was still enough to win both championships.

Cobra’s Kye Sproule had a perfect season in the 7-8 50cc class clean sweeping every race, overall and the championship, but come up second in the 7-8 65cc class championship behind KTM rider Duke Sharobem who rode consistently at every round to win the young 65cc class.

Promoter Michel Constantinou commented, “Thank you to the East Coast MX Team for all their hard work. Even with all the challenges we faced this year they did a great job to get us home and we look forward to an even better year in 2023.”

Congratulations to the class champions of the Finance My Bike East Coast MX.
