‘The Bun’ Trail Ride
Every year, around the middle of May, Kaimkillenbun School P&C and local community welcomes trail bike riders from near and far to enjoy tracks that cross farm land and the rolling foothills of the picturesque Bunya Mountains will be held on May 14 and 15.
Recognised as the Queensland town with the longest single name, Kaimkillenbun, affectionately known by locals as “The Bun”, was the setting for the Nicole Kidman movie ‘Chase Through the Night’ and was also the birthplace of Olympic basketballer John Dorge.
The Bun is widely regarded as one of the best venues and rides on the calendar and it’s only just over two hours from Brisbane. The Bun Ride is great for all levels of rider and is also very family orientated. Camping is free of charge and is available on Friday and Saturday nights, there will be toilets and hot showers on site and riders can enjoy plentiful hot meals and a cold drink. Food will be available from Saturday lunch through to Sunday afternoon.
This year’s the trail ride will be held in the Yamsion district about 15 kilometres from the Bun Pub. It’s a great country with plenty of hills.

A Motorcycling Australia (MA) licence is required for all riders. A Single Use Recreational Licence ($20) can be purchased on the day from the event promoters. All money raised is used by the P&C to purchase much needed equipment and resources for our school such as air conditioners, computers, robotics kits, sporting equipment and library books. The P&C also subsidies the Year 5-7 camp each year and funds swimming lessons for all students
