The A4DE Is Back … For 2020 and 2021!

Four months ago, Motorcycling Australia (MA) confirmed widespread rumours by announcing that the postponed 2019 Australian 4-Day Enduro (A4DE) would in fact be cancelled. Sadly, it marked the second time in three years that the 4-Day had been canned, and only the second time in the prestigious event’s otherwise uninterrupted 41-year history. And the news prompted some speculation about the very future of the 4-Day.

So it came as very welcome news this week when MA officially announced the venue and date for the 2020 A4DE (Erica, Victoria, on May 6-9), and the venue for the 2021 A4DE (Harvey, WA).
Here’s that official PR from MA…

Motorcycling Australia (MA) is proud to announce that the Australian 4-Day Enduro (A4DE) will be visiting Victoria in 2020 and Western Australian in 2021. The Dandenong Motorcycle Club will host the 2020 edition as the A4DE heads to Erica, whilst the Trail and Enduro Motorcycle Club of WA will host the 2021 Championship in Harvey.

Conceived in 1978, the A4DE is renowned for its fierce competition nationwide, and the Erica location will provide the perfect landscape for the highly anticipated event in the local shire of Baw Baw. The event will include excellent spectator vantage points, plus easy access from the township. Scheduled to be held on May 6-9, 2020, the Championship returns to Victoria, which last hosted the event in Mansfield in 2016.

With the 2020 A4DE to head back to Erica (which hosted the prestigious event in 1987), Frank Gogol of the Dandenong Motorcycle Club commented, “Many older enduro enthusiasts will have fond memories of the 1987 A4DE at Erica, with the Park Ferme on the edge of the State Forest that contains epic enduro trails in typical Victorian heavily treed gum forests. With the event scheduled for May, the trail conditions should be prime. With the assistance of DELWP (Forests Vic) and Parks Victoria, the trails have been approved for use and are vast within the surrounding State Forests. Long trail loops are planned, with the Park Ferme at the hub of the expansive trail network.”

The local communities of Erica and Rawson are already well behind the event with support and will be instrumental in conducting the event, with a Baw Baw Shire Council spokesperson adding: “Baw Baw Shire Council is looking forward to hosting Australia’s most well-known enduro event in 2020 in the beautiful Walhalla and Mountain Rivers Region. This event will create a significant economic benefit to the surrounding towns, bringing hundreds of competitors, officials and supporters to the region during the four-day event.”

With the 2021 A4DE to head back to Harvey (which hosted the prestigious event in 2013), Collin Jennings of the Trail and Enduro Motorcycle Club of WA commented: “The Trail and Enduro Motorcycle Club of WA is proud to once again be hosting the A4DE in Western Australia. The 2021 event will be based around the township of Harvey, approximately 140km south of Perth. The event will provide riders and spectators with three full days of completely different type of terrain and will conclude with the traditional final natural terrain moto. Dates and details will be released in the coming months. Preparations for the 2021 A4DE are well underway and we look forward to holding another top-class event in the west.”

More information will be provided in the coming weeks. To stay up to date with all news from the A4DE, be sure to check out the A4DE website, and follow the A4DE on Facebook.
