TESTED: KTM FACTORY RACING TRIPLE CLAMP
Who doesn’t like the idea of fitting a trick-looking, CNC-milled alloy triple clamp to their pride and joy?! Beyond the in-your-face bling factor, genuine accessory (and aftermarket) triple clamps also dictate how your fork stanchions are allowed to flex – which, in turn, affects the fork’s action. But when you fit a triple clamp that also allows you to make offset adjustments, a 2mm change will have a massive influence on chassis balance and the way your bike turns and feels.
So, can reducing triple clamp offset from 22mm to 20mm really transform the turning character and straight-line stability of KTM’s new-generation EXC models? Based on our recent testing, absolutely it can! So much so, we reckon KTM’s 2024/’25 enduro models ought to come with 20mm triple clamp offset from factory.
But the ability to make offset adjustments isn’t the only benefit offered by KTM Powerparts’ Factory Racing Triple Clamp. So, after putting this adjustable triple clamp through its paces for more than six months on our KTM 500EXC-F project bike, here’s how (and why) it can improve the bike’s ride – in both open/fast and tight/slow terrain…
