SHERCO 300SE ‘RACING’ RETURNS FOR 2025

2 months ago | Words: Andy Wigan | Photos: Sherco Motorcycles

Cast your mind back to 2021. Remember the veritable smorgasbord of models that Sherco offered in Oz back then? That’s because their model line-up included both the standard (‘Racing’) and up-specced (‘Factory’) models. Back then, the most significant difference between these model-ranges was the suspension componentry (the Racing models were fitted with trail-oriented WP fork and shock, while the Factory machines got high-end Kayaba suspension at both ends), but there was also a bunch of other accessory options that that the Factory bikes came with as standard equipment – all for an average $1800 price differential over their Racing counterparts.

At that time, because Sherco’s Factory models were outselling the Racing bikes in Australia by such a margin (like three- or four-to-one, or even more in some instances), Sherco made the decision to focus their energies on the Factory range, and the Racing models were phased out from the Aussie market during 2022 and 2023.

Fast-forward to 2025, however, and Sherco has realised its now playing in a very different environment – in terms of both the economy and enduro bike sales. So, citing “the current dynamics of the global enduro market and broader industry challenges”, Sherco Australia has made the strategic decision to bring back the 300SE Racing two-stroke for 2025 – a trail-oriented alternative to the French marque’s best-selling model in the ‘Factory’ range.

The 2025 300SE Racing still has a different component spec to the 2025 Factory models, but it is also the beneficiary of a bunch of upgrades introduced to the 2025 Factory range. Here’s Sherco PR, which explains the rationale behind the re-introduction of the 300SE Racing model for 2025, and the component specs the bike comes with…

Sherco Australia is thrilled to announce the return of the ‘Racing’ variant to its acclaimed MY25 enduro range. This exclusive release marks the reintroduction of a trail-oriented alternative to the French marque’s best-selling model in the ‘Factory’ range, delivering exceptional performance at a more affordable price point. The MY25 Racing range will be limited to the 300cc two-stroke model only.

KEY FEATURES & DIFFERENTIATION

The 2025 300SE Racing variant stands apart from the Factory model with the following specifications:

  • 48mm KYB open-cartridge forks
  • Forged triple clamps
  • Previous-generation (MY23) swingarm, wheels, brake discs and handlebars
  • Halogen headlight globe
  • Mitas tyres
  • Racing-themed decal kit

Despite these differences, the 2025 300SE Racing retains the vast majority of technical advancements introduced with the MY25 Factory models, including:

  • New chassis and subframe
  • Upgraded cooling system with new radiators and silicone hoses (without expansion tank and radiator fan)
  • Redesigned airbox
  • New larger handguards (still included, unlike many competitor models)
  • New wiring harness
  • Revised bodywork and fuel tap position
  • Spes exhaust System

The reintroduction of the Racing variant is strategically timed to address the current dynamics of the global enduro market and broader industry challenges. The Racing model’s sharp manufacturer’s suggested retail price (MSRP) of $14,799* (plus on-road costs) makes it an attractive option, priced at $2000 less than the Factory variant.

* Note that MSRP pricing does not include pre-delivery, freight, registration, and stamp duty costs.

The 2025 300SE Racing is positioned as the ideal choice for customers seeking a high-performance, trail-focused enduro bike with outstanding value for money. Stock is now available from authorised Sherco motorcycle dealers.
