Review: M2R X4 Helmet

WHAT IS IT?

The X4 is a super-lightweight premium race helmet from Made 2 Race. This helmet was entirely designed and developed in Australia, and built to stringent home-grown standards.

WHY WE RATE IT…

With striking graphics and sleek lines, the X4 not only looks cool; it looks fast. It is available in 15 different graphics, which means you can match your lid to your kit, giving you that ‘factory’ look out on the track. Tech-wise, it’s stacked full of features that will make sure it does its job. From its liner through to the vents, M2R has given a tonne of thought to each and every part. Fit-wise, the X4 is very comfortable; the liner shape has been modified so it will accommodate those with a broader head shape than previous models. It’s light (at only 1350g), meaning it won’t wring your neck after a long day in the saddle. Your goggle strap sits snugly in the channel on the back so it won’t slip around. The visor mates perfectly and very securely with the shell, but you do need a coin to tighten its fastening points. The eyeport is on the larger side, so it will accommodate all goggles, but you’ll want to run a nose guard for optimal protection. Our only real quibble: a top-shelf helmet like this ought to come with a better-quality helmet bag to keep it looking fresh for longer.
