PRODUCT SPOTLIGHT: WP XPLOR PRO 7500 CARTRIDGE

One of the cool things about owning a KTM or Husky is the fact that you’re able to run the same suspension componentry that’s used by some of the world’s best factory racers. How so? Because, for several years now, WP Pro Components have also been available over the counter to the general public (via authorised WP dealers). That’s why you hear a bunch of blokes cocking on about the fact they’re running the same high-end 48mm ‘Cone Valve fork’ as the factory pilots. The catch, however, is that factory-level performance has always come at a pretty hefty cost – a set of WP’s 48mm XPLOR Pro Cone Valve forks will set you back the best part of five grand. Which ain’t chump change, right?

More recently, though, that cost equation has changed. Now that KTM’s and Husky’s enduro models (from 2024 onwards) have moved to a more sophisticated fork design – WP’s XACT CC Closed-Cartridge fork – the cost of up-speccing your bike’s front-end to a 48mm Cone Valve fork has come down appreciably – like, by half! Yep, for $2500, you can now buy WP’s XPLOR Pro 7500 Cartridge kit, which effectively upgrades the XACT CC fork on your 2024/2025 KTM or Husqvarna to a fully-fledged XPLOR Pro Cone Valve specimen. No wonder this WP 7500 Cartridge upgrade is now attracting a lot more attention.

In the coming weeks, we’ll be hooking up with one of Australia’s leading WP authorised dealers, On Point Suspension, to test WP’s XPLOR Pro 7500 Cartridge kit fork (back-to-back with a Husky FE350’s standard XACT Closed-Cartridge fork) to get a better handle on the performance gains it offers. In the meantime, here’s the WP PR that sheds more light on their XPLOR Pro 7500 Cartridge kit…

The WP XPLOR Pro 7500 Cartridge is designed to deliver top-tier performance and redefine your riding experience. It incorporates the latest motorsport know-how and features advanced technologies to enhance damping performance and consistency.

One of the key features of the WP XPLOR Pro 7500 Cartridge is the built-in WP closed-cartridge technology. This technology utilises pressurised compartments within the cartridge to ensure consistent damping performance. By separating the oil and gas chambers, it prevents cavitation and loss of damping, even during rapid and repeated impacts. This means that the suspension will maintain optimal performance throughout demanding motorsport conditions.

Additionally, the cartridge incorporates Cone Valve Technology. This technology utilises a unique valving system that controls oil flow through a cone-shaped valve. The Cone Valve design provides precise and progressive damping characteristics, allowing the suspension to effectively absorb both small and large impacts. This results in improved handling, traction, and stability, allowing drivers to push the limits on the track.
