KTM RACING TEAM WRAPS UP AUS PROMX

The final round of the 2025 Australian ProMX Championship at Queensland Moto Park (QMP) proved to be a spectacular weekend for the KTM Racing Team, where Noah Ferguson broke through to claim the MX2 victory and opening moto winner Nathan Crawford claimed second overall in MX1.

Ferguson was laser-focused on delivering a strong result entering the final round of the ProMX season, which began during Saturday’s qualifying session. After posting a time that was nearly a full second faster than the rest of the field aboard his KTM 250SX-F, he carried that momentum into Moto 1 where the Queenslander raced to a comfortable win by almost 11 seconds.

With the overall in sight, the 22-year-old concentrated on maintaining a fast, consistent pace in the second outing. A third-place result was enough to earn him the round victory and finish the season third in the championship standings. Ferguson achieved six podiums in eight rounds for the 2025 season.

Noah Ferguson:
“It’s been a lot of work to get to this point, and I’m really stoked to put two solid motos together. It’s been building since about midway through the season. There were plenty of third-place results, then a second, and now a win, so I’m really happy to end the year on a high. It’s one of my best years in this class!”

QMP saw another strong performance from MX2 teammate Byron Dennis, who powered his way to a 5-4 moto scorecard – earning the teenager fourth overall for the final round. In his second season in the MX2 competition, Dennis delivered an inspiring fifth overall in the series.

Byron Dennis: 
“It wasn’t too bad of a weekend. I got through it and had the speed in the first moto, but didn’t have it in the second one. I’m happy to finish the whole championship this year. I made it to every round, so I can’t complain about that, and I’ll take the positives before we move on to supercross training now.”

Entering QMP within striking distance of the MX1 crown, Crawford was firing on all cylinders as the race weekend commenced. After sealing the third-fastest time in the Top 10 Shootout, Crawford and his KTM 450SX-F charged to the holeshot of the opening moto.

From there, the 28-year-old was never challenged as he took his first race win of the 2025 season, reducing the championship deficit from 16 to 11 points with one race remaining. Crawford would go on to finish fourth in the final moto, which secured him P2 on the round podium.

After a highly impressive 2025 campaign, Crawford achieved a well-earned second-place result in the final MX1 standings, which was highlighted by securing seven of a possible eight podium finishes throughout the season.

Nathan Crawford: 
“I struggled to gel with the track yesterday, but I’ve learnt to just turn up and give it everything in the race. I got the holeshot in the opening moto, felt really good, and I was able to manage the race well to take my first win of the year. The second moto wasn’t the best ending to what was shaping up to be a great day – everything I tried just didn’t really work for me in that last race. It’s time to reflect on a good season, because P2 in the championship is a step forward from last year, and I’m stoked to be able to get through the series healthy and put the KTM Racing Team on the podium at the final round.”

Adding to the orange success in Queensland, the retiring Kirk Gibbs remarkably set the pace in the Top 10 Shootout on Sunday during his final ProMX appearance of a decorated career that has spanned over two decades. 

The start of Moto 1 saw fortunes turn dramatically, however, as the 36-year-old was involved in a multi-rider incident on the start straight and was forced to DNF the race. Come Moto 2, the former Australian Motocross Champion crossed the line in P7, which saw him positioned sixth in the MX1 championship.

Kirk Gibbs:
“I just had good vibes all weekend. Knowing this was going to be my final race, I had nothing to lose. I came to do work this weekend, and getting Superpole was the highlight. But I went from the highest of highs to the lowest of lows with that first race, because it was a big crash with all three of us coming together on the start straight. It’s not how I wanted to end my career – the fairytale would’ve been to go 1-1 today – but I can still claim that I’ve got the speed after setting the fastest qualifying lap! I’ve been with KTM for 10 years and I want to say a massive thank you to everyone who’s been part of this journey.”

KTM Racing Team-supported MX3 contender Jackson Fuller completed his 2025 campaign with a strong third-place overall finish at QMP on his KTM 250SX-F, which sees him placed sixth in the standings despite missing three rounds due to injury. KTM-mounted Taylor Thompson also impressed in the MXW class, racing to third overall at QMP, as well as collecting P3 in the championship.

In the MX65 Futures, powered by KTM, it was talented young New South Wales prospect Archie Black who took home this year’s title, after a consistent 4-3 scorecard for third overall added to his impressive run of results this season. The round was won by fellow KTM-mounted young gun Mason Ezergailis, who went 1-1 at QMP for the victory on his KTM 65 SX.
