HUSQVARNA WOMEN’S TRAILRIDE 2024

1 year ago | Words: Zali Morcom | Photos: Bevpix

In case you hadn’t noticed, women’s sport is on the up and up at the moment – in Australia and around the world. And we’re not just talking the Matildas here. For years, Australia has produced world-class female dirt bike racers – especially in enduro circles – and few more successful than multiple Aussie and ISDE champ, Jemma Wilson. Having officially hung up her racing boots a few years ago now, Wilson has increasingly busied herself with fostering women’s participation in the sport by staging a bunch of cool Camp Out coaching and trailride events – the most recent of which was the fifth annual Husqvarna Women’s Trailride, held in late June at Queensland’s iconic Green Park track. And joining the other 243 women this year near Conondale, in the Sunshine Coast’s picturesque hinterland, was Transmoto’s Event Manager, Zali Morcom.

Morcom, herself an avid rider and the driving force behind the successful introduction of Saturday’s ‘Ladies Loop’ at selected Transmoto Enduro events this year, had nothing but praise for Wilson after experiencing the Husqvarna Women’s Trailride.

“Conondale’s incredible Green Park played host to what was one of the best weekends I have had riding. Ever!”, enthused Morcom. “The 2024 event was perfectly executed by Jemma Wilson and her amazing team, with nearly 250 women cutting laps in prime conditions over the two days. Loads of riding, lots of laughs, live music, great food, cocktails, demo bikes and an amazing undertone of excited girls doing what they love: riding! Going at your own pace, there was a track for every rider level – from beginners to advanced enduro trails. The enduro tracks consisted of a 4.5km main loop with five breakout loops that varied in difficulty. You could also ride the motocross and natural terrain tracks to break up the day.

“The 40 sweeps looking after us were never far away to offer assistance and cheer us on. You could even buddy up with a ‘Pied Piper’ Sweep if you were feeling a little nervous. And although I attended solo, I never felt alone as there was always someone to ride with.

“So, put down the 2025 Husqvarna Women’s Trailride in your calendar because you really don’t want to miss this bucket list event. A big thank-you to Jemma for putting on such an awesome event and bringing together an amazing community of women,” Morcom went on to say.

Here’s a photo galley of this year’s event at Green Park – thanks to Bevpix – along with a short highlights video of what went down on and off the track…
