First Look: 2025 KTM 1390 Super Adventure Models

KTM have leveled up their adventure machines, releasing their 2025 KTM 1390 Super Adventure models – the top-of-the-line new S EVO beast, along with its street-oriented companion S model. With the S EVO sitting at the top of KTM’s Super Adventure line-up, the Austrian brand has subsequently brought all-new technological and mechanical advancements to the adventure-motorcycling realm. And this doesn’t exclude the S model, which continues to put its “bringing more adventure to the street” expression into practice.

Here’s a breakdown from KTM about these new 1390 Super Adventure models…

CHASSIS

Starting at the chassis, both the KTM 1390 Super Adventure S EVO and S models boast reworked frame stiffness, improving handling and track stability. With 8mm lower and 10mm wider footpeg positioning, rider comfort is improved through a wider knee angle. Both models have updated styling and ergonomics including an all-new LED headlight, new windshields and storage compartment.

SUSPENSION

Both models are fitted with WP’s latest Semi-Active Technology. Tuned to be more precise with consistent damping behaviour at higher frequencies, the SAT uses new PWM (Pulse Width Modulation) sensors and a new through-rod fork construction to achieve refined handling dynamics.

ENGINE

The mechanical elements under the new skin provide the biggest updates over the previous generations, with the change in engine capacity being the most immediate highlight. Both the S and the S EVO models boast an increased engine displacement from 1300 to 1350cc, producing 173PS @ 9500rpm and 145Nm @ 8000rpm. This comes courtesy of reworked engine components and all-new Camshift technology, which provides improved rideability in low rpm range, higher peak performance, low emissions, and fuel consumption. At higher revs, the inlet cams shift sideways, opening the valves longer and higher to flood the cylinder with gas, unleashing maximum performance. In the lower rev range, the inlet cams dial back the valve timing and lift, optimizing rideability. This dual approach delivers a powerful boost in performance, whether you’re navigating city streets or tearing up fast roads.

TRANSMISSION

Compared to the range-topping KTM 1390 Super Adventure S EVO, the S proudly boasts a traditional clutch and manual gearbox aimed at riders looking for a more “hands-on” approach, with the 5th-generation Front Radar available as an optional extra.

However, the S EVO has an exclusive, all-new Automated Manual Transmission (AMT) – a first for KTM. First seen as a prototype in the hands of Johnny Aubert on the formidable Iron Road Prologue at the Red Bull Erzbergrodeo, the AMT is one of the most innovative engine developments made by KTM in recent years. The AMT allows the rider to choose between a traditional manual shifting, by way of the foot lever or bar-mounted paddles, or a completely twist-and-go automated transmission, while retaining a full READY TO RACE attitude.

ELECTRONICS

Both models receive KTM’s new premium electronics package with a touchscreen, portrait-mount V80 TFT dashboard. The 8” Touchscreen features inductive technology, allowing easy operation even when wearing thick winter gloves, while an innovative anti-reflex, anti-fingerprint and anti-glare coating improves overall readability. We recently touched on KTM’s new TFT displays, which claim to create a more immersive, intuitive and user-friendly riding experience.

Riders of the S EVO and S model have access to all new ride modes and connectivity features. The S EVO comes with KTM’s latest Adaptive Cruise Control (ACC), which adds brake assistance, collision warning, and distance warning to its arsenal – an optional upgrade for the S model. The new ACC system, combined with AMT, features ACC Stop & Go. When activated, this system will bring the motorcycle to a complete stop if the vehicle ahead comes to a hold. Once the vehicle moves, the motorcycle will automatically resume its motion. All the above comes courtesy of a more compact, 5th-generation front radar sensor made by Bosch. This features performance optimisation, improved truck detection, a higher maximum speed, and updated cancellation thresholds, with dynamic, street, and group ride functionality.

Both the 2025 KTM 1390 Super Adventure S EVO and S models are powerhouses in both performance and technological advancements – pushing the boundaries of adventure motorcycling even further.

The new 2025 KTM 1390 Super Adventure S will be available at authorised KTM dealers in Australia and New Zealand from May 2025 onwards. Unfortunately, Australia and New Zealand will not have availability of the KTM 1390 Super Adventure S EVO model.
