EWC: Australia’s Phillips and Gardiner score double podiums
Australian riders, Matt Phillips and Jess Gardiner, impressed many at the opening rounds of the 2014 FIM Enduro World Championship (EWC), held in Spain over the weekend.
Phillips, the 2013 Junior Enduro World Champ, went 2-3 over the weekend. The KTM Enduro Factory Racing Team rider currently sits second Overall in the Enduro 3 class standings.
Sherco-mounted Gardiner went 3-3 over the weekend, and currently sits third Overall in the Women’s standings. Fellow Aussie, Jemma Wilson, went 8-4 for fifth Overall.
On Saturday, Phillips’ teammates dominated the racing. Christophe Nambotin topped the Enduro 1 category, Antoine Meo won the Enduro 2 class and Ivan Cervantes secured a home win in the Enduro 3 class. On Sunday, Nambotin and Cervantes backed up their efforts, while the Enduro 2 victory went to Husqvarna’s Pela Renet.

The third and fourth rounds of the 2014 FIM Enduro World Championship will take place in Portugal, April 12-13.
