Drane Dominates AFTN Finale

Yamaha Racing brought star power to the final weekend of the Yamaha bLU cRU Aussie Flat Track Nationals (AFTN), with U.S. import and Estenson Racing rider Dallas Daniels joining Tom Drane for rounds five and six of the championship. Australian Superbike (ASBK) rising star Cameron Dunker also showcased his skills, making the Yamaha YZ450F a standout throughout the event.

Despite missing the first two rounds due to U.S. racing commitments, Drane made up for lost time, continuing his momentum from Appin to dominate in Gunnedah. The young racer clinched victories in both days of the 450 Pro class competition.

Saturday’s Performance

Drane nearly swept Saturday’s races, claiming three wins from four starts. His 2-1-1-1 results gave him a strong points buffer over Max Whale in second place and Daniels in third.

Sunday’s Sweep

On Sunday, Drane secured another win with consistent 1-3-1-1 finishes, showcasing his versatility across varying track conditions. With wins in all four rounds he contested, Drane demonstrated why he is considered a world-class dirt track racer. Despite missing the first two events, he climbed to fourth in the championship standings.

“Another great weekend for me, and it’s awesome to be back home racing again,” Drane said. “The Gunnedah track was good to ride, and we had plenty of people to watch us race, so that was nice. Thanks to Rise Activations for promoting this series—it’s something Australia really needs—and also to Estenson Racing and Yamaha for their assistance in having me back here and racing.”

Dallas Daniels Makes His Mark

U.S. racer Dallas Daniels quickly adapted to the Australian flat track style. On Saturday, Daniels stormed to a win in the opening race but settled for fourth overall with consistent finishes. He improved on Sunday, finishing third with results of 5-4-3-3.

“I was just planning on being a tourist and laying on the beach,” Daniels said. “But Tom [Drane] mentioned he could help set me up if I wanted to race. Thanks to Yamaha Australia and the Drane family for making it happen. It’s been a great weekend of racing.”

Cameron Dunker Shines

ASBK star Cameron Dunker proved his versatility by matching wits with the world’s best dirt trackers. The 17-year-old improved as the weekend progressed, finishing fifth on Saturday and fourth on Sunday, delivering impressive performances against experienced dirt track racers.
