DEACON DENNO DOMINATES DAYTONA

Triumph Factory Racing’s Deacon Denno has delivered a remarkable performance this weekend at the eighth stop of the 2026 AMA Supercross Championship, claiming the SMX Next main event win at the iconic Daytona International Speedway. Denno extends Triumph’s growing list of racing achievements, as the brand enters just their third year of professional off-road racing.

Denno dominated the SMX Next main event en-route to a career-first win, one that cemented his status as a star of the future. Selected from the junior ranks by the Triumph Factory Racing squad, Denno charged his TF250-X to an advantage of more than four seconds after moving into the lead on the third lap. The next SMX Next fixture of 2026 will be on March 21 in Birmingham, Alabama.

Denno’s 250SX East teammate Jalek Swoll raced to a top ten finish for the first time this year. Eager to rebound after a premature end to the previous round, Swoll enjoyed a solid outing – finishing eighth in his heat race and progressing into the main event, where he battled around the same spot throughout the 15-minute race. Unfortunately, he was penalised two spots after the race due to a start infraction and dropped from eighth to 10th to finish his Daytona weekend.

On the TF450-X, Jordon Smith was also in action at his second round aboard Triumph’s latest MX machine. Restricted by a handful of untimely falls in the 450SX main event, he showed more top ten potential in both qualification and his heat race. After starting the main on the cusp of the top ten, he reached the chequered flag in 17th place.

Deacon Denno:
“My day was good. I had two good qualification sessions; I put the lines together quite quickly. The main event was great too, of course. I had the holeshot and I’m just so pumped to come out with the win. Thank you to the entire team!”

Jalek Swoll:
“It was a frustrating day. I never quite felt the way that I wanted, and I did not really get into a flow at all. I have finished my first main since 2024, however, and the only way is up from here. I feel confident that we can move in the right direction pretty quickly.”

Jordon Smith:
“It was a fun day at Daytona! It has been difficult being back so soon after injury. The guys are at such a high level at the moment, but we made small improvements today. That’s the goal, to make improvements every single week. We will get back to work and do the same before next weekend.”
