David Knight wins second conseccutive British Enduro round

KTM Enduro Factory Team rider David Knight has claimed his second consecutive overall victory in the British Enduro Championship, topping both days of the Natterjack Enduro. Bringing his total number of wins in the ’11 BEC series to three – the exact same number of events he’s competed in this year having missed the middle part of the series due to his double hip surgery – Knight quickly established himself at the top of the results on both days before going on to claim two deserved wins.

With a tight time schedule and two physically demanding and sandy special tests the final round of the ’11 BEC series was most certainly a challenging one. Still working his way towards full fitness Knight arrived at the end of the opening day feeling a little worse for wear, but pleased to have completed six gruelling hours on his bike.

Day two featured a relaxed time schedule, which allowed David to take things a little bit easier. Using the first lap to ease himself into things, David went on to win each of the day’s seven tests and collect victory just as he’d done on day one.

David Knight: ‘I got the win on both days, which was good, but I was a little frustrated with the way things went. I didn’t feel great during the week before the race but I knew that I needed to get more riding time in and knew that the Natterjack Enduro would be a lot tougher than the previous round of the BEC series. I didn’t feel that good during the first day – I wasn’t doing anything wrong I was just a little hesitant in some of the corners, which I guess is to be expected. I was riding a new bike as well so it took a while to get fully used to things. Not knowing what the times were for each test wasn’t good because you didn’t know how hard you’ve had to push. By the end of the day my hips were really sore and my back wasn’t much better either. I didn’t feel too bad before the start of the second day. I managed to win all of the tests but it was hard opening up a good lead. It was a tough 12 hours on a bike that wasn’t that enjoyable because of my hips being sore, but in the long term it’s been good for me. And winning the final round of the series having been unable to compete in all of the events is great.’
