CDR Yamaha Replace Tanti for ProMX

New Zealand’s Maximus Purvis will take up the second seat at the Monster Energy CDR Yamaha Team when the opening round of the ProMX Championship gets underway in March, while Aaron Tanti remains sidelined due to his recent injuries sustained in training. Jed Beaton will headline the team alongside Purvis, with the pair set for a flying start to the championship.

Purvis, a long time Yamaha rider who is about to start his New Zealand Motocross Championship campaign, will fill in for Tanti on a round by round basis until the 2022 MX Champion is 100% fit and ready to race.

CDR Team Owner, Craig Dack:
“It’s unfortunate that Aaron is hurt and the timeline of his injury is a bit of an unknown, so we have enlisted Maximus to contest the opening rounds for us and believe he is more than capable of doing a great job. Maximus has shown plenty of speed every time he has come to Australia, and with the synergy between the Yamaha teams in Australia and New Zealand, he was the perfect choice for us and we look forward to working with him.”

Purvis:
“I have been to Australia a few times and have a great relationship with Yamaha there. Every time I have gone, it’s been later in the season and I haven’t been in great shape as I’m coming off our [NZ] off-season, but this year I will go straight from the final round of our NZMX champs and straight into  Wonthaggi for the opening round of ProMX. I’m really looking forward to it and determined to make the most of this opportunity. Craig has been awesome to deal with in getting things in place, and Josh Coppins has been supportive of my racing in Australia, so it’s all coming together well. My first goal is to secure a championship for JCR here in New Zealand starting this weekend, and then take that momentum into Australia and see where it puts me.”
